Jenna & Whitney's Autumn Owl Baby Sprinkle

 Thursday, November 7, 2013

On November 1st I hosted a baby sprinkle for my two dear friends Jenna & Whitney. Jenna is having a boy and she is due Christmas Eve while Whitney is having a girl and is due any week now! For those who don't know what a "baby sprinkle" is, no worries, I didn't know what it was at first either! According to TheBump.com:
Sprinkles
More in baby news: Showers aren't all about firsts anymore. Second- (and third-, and fourth-) borns are getting more recognition lately, thanks to the "sprinkle" (as in a sprinkling of gifts, rather than a full-on shower). Second-time moms are usually well set up with gear, but there's still reason to celebrate! At a baby sprinkle, the new addition is honored with a get-together including small gifts like diapers, wipes or books.
Both Jenna & Whitney are expecting their second baby so Jenna will have a girl & now a boy, and Whitney will now have two little girls!
The guests of honor

I had so much fun planning this baby sprinkle. I hosted it with two of my besties Ixchel & Nicole at Whitney''s house. The theme was Autumn Owls. The table was decorated in warm autumn colors with homemade baby owls in their nests made of scrapbook paper. I had birdcages with pine cones, baby pumpkins, and baskets.

I made a "diaper cake" with baskets and books, & pumpkins and ribbon. A vase filled with orange and yellow sunflowers and autumn leaves and a pumpkin I made from an old book also added to the centerpiece.
On one side of the table was food and on the other side was dessert.

Nicole so graciously helped me make the food so you can thank her for the amazing pumpkin black bean chicken chili, mini corn muffins, and apple cider cups. She did an amazing job!

Thanks to Ixchel & Nicole for helping me
make Jenna & Whitney's baby sprinkle special.

and conversation.

Once the guests arrived and we had our fill of food, we played two games prepared by the lovely Ixchel. The first game featured us drawing a baby on a paper plate while keeping the plate on our heads. The guest with the prettiest baby drawing wins! This game was hilarious. My baby drawing looked nothing like a baby haha.

This cool lady won! She even drew fingers and toes!

The second game didn't really have anything to do with babies, but it was definitely a fun one! A guest is blindfolded and tries to step over the glass vases in a straight line without breaking them. Little does the player know that once she is blindfolded, the fragile vases are taken away so she is left trying to find balance and step over the vases without breaking them! The girl who played this game was a huge sport about it when she found out we had removed the vases before she even started.
After games came presents! These ladies received diapers and wipes and cute baby onesies and shoes!
We were so thankful to everyone who came. Two of the guests had to leave before this picture was taken.

I made thank you favors for the guests to take with them when they left. Inside each box was a molasses pumpkin kiss cookie with Hershey's caramel kisses and extra pumpkin kisses.

The two lovely ladies & their babies
Can you tell which one is Whitney due in November
and which one is Jenna due in December?
The evening was a success. Ixchel commented that it was the perfect way to introduce November and leave behind Halloween. I couldn't agree more. Congrats to my two favorite friends on their newest additions to their family nests!
